RETS Project Intermediary Conference, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands

29th March 2011

The Municipality of Sittard-Geleen hosted the RETS Intermediary Conference on 29th March 2011 targeted at all Limburg policy and decision makers, businesses, RETS-project partners and educational institutes to sustainable/renewable energy. The main conference objectives were to share know-how, ideas and applications related to renewable energy in order to encourage local sustainability policy and initiatives, and to promote and possibly export local expertise and applications related to renewable energy within the RETS partnership.

The plenary session of the conference highlighted the promising cooperation of the two Interreg projects RENREN and RETS. While RETS gives focus to the state of the art of technology and best practices for small local authorities, RENREN focuses on the administrative procedure and policy which support the creation of the technologies and installations. Collaboration between the two projects would help to foster a more complete approach to renewables for local authorities.
Visitors had the opportunity to choose between different parallel sessions, in the afternoon, related to local good practices in renewable energies and RETS good practices.
